Program Objectives
To provide students with a thorough grounding in general management through holistic education
To develop a deep appreciation of issues related to developing and sustaining competitive advantages in global markets
To develop professional, socially responsive leaders with the ability to function in different cultures and contexts
Program Structure
The University of Mumbai has introduced a revised curriculum with the objective of delivering better value to stake holders - corporate and students, and making the curriculum more contemporary in tune with changing industry requirements.
This curriculum will come into effect from the MMS batch 2007-2009.
Highlights of the new curriculum:
All courses fall into 3 categories:
- Core (common for all specializations)
- Major (compulsory for specializations)
- Electives (choice for Institutes to offer to students)
University assessment will be for 300 marks instead of 500 marks in the 2nd year, with two papers in semester III and one paper in semester IV. All other 2nd year courses will be internally assessed.
Foreign language has been introduced as an elective for the first time by the University of Mumbai.

Pedagogy
XIMR follows the case study method extensively, drawing on cases from the world's leading B-Schools such as Harvard, Stanford, INSEAD, LBS, etc. The focus is on peer to peer learning and providing an enabling environment to help participants raise their thinking to a higher level. Lectures, team-work, assignments, etc. will supplement case studies.
Our team of highly dedicated, experienced faculty creates an intense academic environment. The course is designed for a high level of academic rigour and participants are expected to work at least 90 hours a week.

Evaluation
In the first year, students will be evaluated on a continuous basis with 50% marks for case discussions, assignments, tests, etc as the faculty deems fit and the balance 50% marks for internal examination. Each faculty will provide a session-wise plan, suggested readings and evaluation methodology at the beginning of the course. Students are expected to read before coming to class.
In the second year, the internally assessed papers will follow the same pattern of evaluation. For University papers, 40% of the evaluation will be internal and 60% through University exams as detailed here (click to view).
